Beyond Mosaics: Icons, Altars and Assemblage

Laurie Mika's unique blend of mixed media mosaics will be showcased in her solo exhibit at the Institute of Mosaic Arts.

This unique body of work features Mika's unique mosaics comprised primarily of handmade polymer clay tiles. Mika combines personalized polymer clay tiles with jewelry pieces, tesserae, handmade ceramic tiles, found objects, beads, milagros and charms to create contemporary and narrative works of art that reflect the influences of both Medieval and Mexican folk art.
