Join Mixed Media/Assemblage Artist Madeline Behrens-Brigham for a fun weekend creating Day of the Dead Altars. In this course we will celebrate and honor the lives of the deceased and the joyful continuation of life. Learn about this unique cultural observance and experience the power of a visual meditative focus.

In the Latino culture deceased loved ones are remembered on a special day with offerings of food, flowers and gifts. Familiar objects are placed on an altar to remember the person with love and respect.

Bring special objects, mementos and photos of a loved one to use with your altar. Other resources will also be available to enhance your altar.

Another essential element of the offerings to ancestors is food. So, bring something to share for a communal lunch while we recall memories and discuss the altars, mementos and favorite foods.

Mixed Media instructor Madeline Behrens-Brigham will lead the class and offer suggestions for creating desired effects. Examples of historic altars will also be shown.

No scheduled sessions
