Create a mosaic POP ICON described as "tasteless, done in the most tasteful of ways ..."
The first day will include a short inspirational talk about how ugly really can be beautiful with full color photos. Then using found objects, provided by the instructor and students, such as gaudy rhinestones, broken jewelry, toys, bottle caps, that special rock, or an old swim medal from 6th grade...students will create an amazing frame full o' kitsch.
On the second day the masterpiece emerges... Grout like you are on an archeological dig, with toothbrushes and dental tools.
Don't worry, it's worth it!
Students are highly encouraged to bring a wide variety of mixed materials such as jewelry, toys, bottle caps, etc.
