Come and join dynamic sibling duo Julia Alpers, custom tile designer and Rhiannon Alpers, handmade book artist and instructor at Center for the Book Arts for a new experience in mixed media and mosaic art. Create a one-of- a- kind mosaic photo album in this unique workshop.
This two-day workshop will include lecture and demonstration on designing a mosaic photo album, descriptive small-scale mosaic setting techniques, hands-on instruction on book making and instructions on putting it all together.
Day one will include lecture, demonstration and book making instruction, as well as designing and setting of the mosaic inlay. On day two students will grout the mosaic inlay and create the photo album, install inlay to take home a finished photo album.
Students are encouraged to bring additional small colorful tesserae, buttons, beads, found objects or keepsakes to personalize their mosaic inlay and photo album, although tesserae will also be provided. Students will take home their very own handmade 8" x 10" photo album with 3.5" x 3.5" mosaic inlay installed.
