This is a 6 session, extended mosaic study course in which students will create a portrait from a photograph of their subject. Although of a realistic style, students will be encouraged to employ whimsy, asymmetry and interesting color arrangements into their projects, which will ultimately exude personality traits of their subject! All materials are provided. Ceramic tile, glass, miscellaneous embellishments and found objects will be available. Class will include lecture and demonstration on how to transfer a photographic image onto a substrate. The instructor will also cover basic mosaic technique and use of tools. This course is designed for the beginning or continuing mosaic student. Instructor will work with each student to help him or her develop a design suited to each student's individual skill/experience level. Students need to bring in a photograph (or several photographs) of their subject.
