ADVANCED EXPLORATIONS IN GLASS

Glass Mosaic Artist Laurel True will guide students through this eight week course which will explore the diverse and exciting glass mosaic media available to artists.

After a through introduction of glass media and materials including stained and vitreous glass, dichroic and fusable glass, smalti, mirror, van gogh glass and other specialty glasses, there will be in depth discussion and demonstration of how to cut, shape, process and set these materials to achieve desired effects.

Students are encouraged to explore either a three dimensional or 2 dimensional advanced project using more than one glass media, with one on one guidance from instructor.

Class will include slide/ digital lectures presenting the work of both ancient and contemporary glass mosaic artists and will be encouraged to push themselves and go "outside the box' with their approach to design and materials combining. First session will be devoted to design and project planning and or substrate construction/ prep.
